Carson Falls Fieldtrip
February 26 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Explore the Bay Area hills as life returns with the rain. We will hike to Carson Falls Near Fairfax in Marin County and learn how to draw waterfalls at one of Marin County’s most spectacular cascades. Remember to bring a bowl and spoon and something to share for the potluck lunch.
The hike is a moderately difficult 3 miles. See Bay Area Hiker for trail details. There is a bit of a hill at the start of the trail an it is exposed so bring a sun hat for the hike. Make sure your potluck contributions are portable. We will not be near the cars at lunchtime so make your potluck treat portable. No bathrooms or water at the trailhead. This is a lovely spot with lots of interesting things to explore and sketch. I really look forward to being there with you.
Meet at the Azalea Hill Trailhead. From US 101 in Marin County, exit San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake. Drive about 5 miles west on Sir Francis Drake to Fairfax. Turn left on Pastori, right on Broadway, and left onto Fairfax-Bolinas Road. Drive about 4 miles on Fairfax-Bolinas Road to the parking lot on the left side of the road. If you use a GPS to get around, plug these coordinates into your machine and it will take you right there: Latitude 37°57’49.17″N Longitude 122°37’29.68″W. I
