Field Sketching; A Year of Mindfulness
November 17 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm PST
Join me to learn the tools and techniques for sketching the natural world from life over the course of four seasons in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.
Field sketching is a wonderful tool for capturing the environment in which you live, travel and appreciate. Add some color to those sketches to make a beautiful illuminated journal!
Your goal is to capture quick flashes of the things around you. Many of your sketches may end up very unfinished. Think of each page in your journal or sketchbook as a study of some object or place that you want to remember.
This year-long virtual course is segmented into four mini-courses, one for each season. Enroll in the full year, or pick the seasons that fits your interest and skill goals.
The Fall season (Nov through mid-Dec) covers some very basic stuff: tools, how to use them, all the drawing exercises, using graphite, using pen & ink, and some very basic stuff with watercolor. Seasonal nature subjects. Break from mid-Dec through mid-Jan.
No experience is required but, even if you have some experience, consider joining us for the practice time (pencil miles!) with a group of supportive peers under guided instruction. You don’t always know what you don’t know!
If you are joining part-way through a season, or in between seasons, please contact me before you intend to begin so that I can assimilate you into the group.
