Field Sketching at Bolinas Lagoon
April 24, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm PDT$35
Point Reyes Birding and Nature Festival: Join us for a sketching field trip along the shore of Bolinas Lagoon, to learn and practice the fundamentals of sketching birds in the field. We will have opportunities to observe and draw waders, waterfowl, and songbirds. By drawing what you see, you will observe more carefully and will be able to remember the features of the birds you see. Learn tricks to see past the details to capture the essence of birds with posture, and proportions, and learn a revolutionary way of handling shading. Bring a sketchpad and pencil.
- Instructions on carpooling and directions to the event location will be emailed to registered participants the week of the festival.
- What to bring: Sketch pad and pencil, binoculars, scope, layered clothes, liquids.
- Limited to 20 participants
Where to meet: The group will carpool from the Dance Palace at 11:15 am. The Dance Palace is located at the corner of B and 5th Streets, Point Reyes Station. Go West from Main Street to B Street, then turn north.
Or meet at the Bolinas School at noon. Take Highway one 11 miles south from Point Reyes. Go past Horseshoe Hill road. At the next intersection, there is no sign, but take the diagonal right onto Bolinas-Olema Road, the first significant looking road to the right after you get to the bottom of the hill. Continue 1 to 2 miles to a T intersection at Las Baulinas Nursery; then turn left. The school is on the right, a quarter mile up the road.
