Landscape Shortcuts- Water & Sky
August 13, 2013 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm PDT
FreeLet’s take a close look at common elements in landscapes and develop a range of strategies and concepts to quickly transfer what you see to paper. In this workshop we will explore how to draw and paint water (still lakes, open ocean, surf, waterfalls, and streams), skies (various types of clouds and sunsets), and broadleaf woodlands (oaks, bays etc.). There is no formula or one way to draw any of these things but there are some observations and approaches to drawing that can be applied with many media and with your own style. Add these techniques to your journaling quiver.
Building 989 is in the Presidio (behind the bathrooms next to the Warming Hut). Building 989 doesn’t actually have a street address (the Presidio can get pretty confusing – most of the buildings don’t have addresses!) It’s at the intersection of Long Avenue and Marine Drive, behind the bathrooms next to the Warming Hut Bookstore and Cafe. On the Google map above of the Warming Hut, building 989 is labeled “Pacific Coast Federation.” If you’re using mapquest or GPS, the best thing would be to go to the Warming Hut at 983 Marine Drive. We will put up a sign at the 989 building entrance and near the parking lot to point you in the right direction. Click here to see a map with directions to building 989 in the Presidio with the best way to get there from 101 and from Marina Boulevard (because of the construction, some roads are closed).
