Oakland Zoo Fundraiser: How to Draw Bears

Join experienced artist, author, naturalist, and educator John Muir Laws for this special fundraiser for Oakland Zoo, where you will learn about the zoo and their resident bears, and learn how to draw bears utilizing Oakland Zoo’s web cams and photos.
The Grizzly Bears at Oakland Zoo are named Rubicon, Kenai, Tulare, and Truckee. Learn more here (including a video) and see the Grizzly Bear pond webcam here.Â
This 60-minute live drawing workshop can hold 500 people. John Muir Laws will also make a recording of the workshop and post it on his blog. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
Suggested Donation to Oakland Zoo: $20. Whether you can join our class or not, I encourage you to make a donation to the Oakland Zoo’s Animal Care Fund. Let’s help keep the animals fed, happy, and healthy during this pandemic crisis.

Thank you so much for donating your class! I was lucky enough to take one of your classes out in Point Reyes at the April Nature Festival several years ago, where we crept around in a tight circle and “snuck” up on a lovely Egret to draw. Your help made me realize that I could actually draw a little bit and helped me keep up my bird journal by adding sketching! So many of us think we could never draw, but your techniques really work! Thanks for supporting the zoo!
