Bite-sized Botany

Virtual Event

April 16 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am PDT

Join Kristin Link, author of Discovering the Art of Field Sketching in discussion with John Muir Laws. Let’s look up close at the details of plants!

Join naturalist and illustrator Kristin Link for a conversation about her new book, Discovering the Art of Field Sketching. Kristin will share how she uses small, daily nature journal entries in pen and watercolor to explore plant morphology and phenology, keeping track of how plants grow, bloom, and change through the seasons. Discover how close observation and small sketches of the plants in your neighborhood can help build familiarity and a sense of place over time.

Bio: Kristin Link is a science illustrator, artist, and educator based in McCarthy, Alaska. Her work explores the intersection of art, ecology, and place, focusing on northern landscapes including glaciers, tundra, and the boreal forest. She teaches field sketching and science communication across Alaska and online. See more of her work at kristinillustration.com.All ages and experience levels are welcome.
