SUMMARY:Trailheads to Poetry with Leslie Young
DESCRIPTION:Join a discussion with Leslie Young about how she opened a daily poetry practice.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin Leslie Young and John Muir Laws for an exploration of poetry in your nature journal. Leslie writes “I have lately been walking through poetry\, through flowerbeds or up to grand views\, solo or with co-adventurers\, following trails or bushwhacking. There are many entries into the landscape of words. It would give me great good pleasure to share with you some trailheads I’ve found welcoming and rewarding\, such as how I get a pocketful of meaningful poems\, how I find a community of words\, and how I use the interplay of prompt\, form\, and meaning. You will doubtless find your own paths in\, and sometimes just knowing there is a way can help you find your way.” \n\n\n\nAbout Leslie\n\n\n\nFor years\, Leslie wrote verse for friends on special occasions. Then the Universe knocked\, she opened the door a crack\, and the Universe barged in\, saying “you called?” Today\, she is startled and delighted to find herself hobnobbing with poets\, sharing poems in the Allenspark Wind\, reciting her own poems at open mics or on nature journaling trips\, writing daily poems in the 2026 Stafford Challenge\, leading this workshop\, and guiding people into getting poetry on the page in the Lyons Colorado nature journaling club. \n\n\n\nAll ages and experience levels are welcome. No registration is necessary. \n\n\n\n\nClick here to join the live workshop!\n\n\n\n\nSuggested donation: $20. Your donation helps support my family and me. Your generosity is deeply appreciated\, and it makes an immediate difference in my ability to continue to offer these programs. This donation is not tax-deductible. Click here to donate. If you are not able to donate at this time\, no problem–please continue to enjoy the classes and find another way to pay it forward in your community with acts of kindness and service. Thank you! \n\n\n\nIf you are new to Zoom or are having trouble with the meeting controls\, please see these notes and suggestions on Zoom Tips for Online Classes with John Muir Laws to help you get more out of the online workshop. When possible I will also make a recording of the workshop and post it on my blog. I look forward to seeing you there! \n\n\n\nBring\n\n\n\n\nYour Journal and favorite drawing materials. Taking notes while you watch and participate will help you remember the new techniques and incorporate them into your journaling.\n\n\n\nYour sense of humor!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease share if you like it!\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n More\n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print
