How to Draw Garden Birds (video)

Learn how to capture the form and feeling of sparrows, warblers and other common songbirds with fast and efficient lines. Learn key anatomical details to help you draw them accurately in the field or in the studio. Filmed live with the National Audubon Society.

Download the bird model handout for the class. Cut out the bird model at the top (head and body) and bring them to class. You do not need to cut close to the tail and feet.

thank You John for your recent Drawing garden birds and then waterbirds yesterday. I learned so much ,But mostly, I felt like I was back in jr. college. I have missed that for years due to taking all the art classes as much as allowed. …also, I need help finding the recordings from the 2 classes just seen on Zoom . wish I could review the song bird one. It was alot of info & i want to learn it all .
P.S. I realized the main bird ID book I take everywhere is Illustrated by YOU! Small world ! Thanks so Much for Sharing.

I just loved this class. I just have one suggestion. As I am a new birder and new to drawing birds it would help me so much if you added the names to the pictures of the birds. I wanted to look them up in my Sibley guide but, some I didn’t have a clue where to start. I am sure there are other beginners and it would help us. I can’t wait for the other two classes. I am working on my 15 birds. Thank you so much for these classes. Mary Frantz
