SUMMARY:Nature Journal Club for Teens: Launch Party (all ages welcome!)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the official Nature Journal Club for Teens launch party on November 13\, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. PT! We want to welcome all nature journalers with a few fun activities. Joining us will be\, 18 year old\, Isaiah Scott\, a university student\, nature journaler\, birder and wildlife photographer. He will be giving an interesting talk about his work\, and a drawing demonstration. At the end of the event you will have a chance to ask any questions you may have for Isaiah and the hosts will explain more about the Nature Journaling Club for Teens how to join it. All ages are welcome to the launch party as it is meant to introduce nature journalers to a new community and to have fun with nature journaling! \nThe Nature Journal Club for Teens is a private Facebook group dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for teens to share their nature journal pages with other teens. We believe that when it comes to nature journaling\, adults and young kids dominate the overall audience. We want to gather the 13-19 age group (often overlooked) and bring together a community of teen nature journalers! \nAgain\, all ages are welcome to the launch party\, but the private Facebook group is meant only for teens. \nWe hope to see you at the launch party!  \nFacebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/naturejournalclubforteens \nLaunch party link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84510633614?pwd=Qk1HSTMxKzNFTjRrN3JJRGhRUVc2QT09 \nLaunch party passcode: 691492 \nEmailing List: naturejournalclubforteens@gmail.com \nIf you would like to join our emailing list and you are a teen please contact naturejournalclubforteens@gmail.com where we will send out somewhat occasional newsletters explaining what is coming up in the Nature Journal Club for Teens and private Zoom recordings of the club meetups.

SUMMARY:Be Well in Nature (wellness workshops with Stanford University)
DESCRIPTION:John Muir Laws is speaking as a part of a day-long panel on nature and wellness. When we connect with nature\, we can foster peace and tranquility within ourselves\, resulting in positive well-being. In fact\, research has shown that spending time in nature reduces stress\, anxiety\, and depression.  Sessions include the science of wellness in nature\, journaling\, boosting resilience\, recognizing our authentic selves\, and connecting through movement. You may attend the whole day or drop in throughout the day for the sessions that interest you. Attend two or more sessions to be entered into a giveaway for a $50 Amazon gift card. \nRegister for the event and see the full list of sessions. \nDescription of my program: Keeping an illustrated\, observational journal is a centuries-old method that has been reenvisioned and refined through our understanding of neuroscience\, learning\, and deliberate practice. A nature journal focuses our attention and crystalizes our observations\, thoughts\, and experiences. This class will help you collect and organize your observations\, questions\, connections\, and explanations in a notebook using words\, pictures\, and numbers. You do not need to be an artist or a naturalist. These skills can be learned by anyone and developed through practice. Journaling is creative\, rigorous\, and playful. It is easy to begin and learn\, and your work will grow and mature over a lifetime. Start now: you can do this\, and the world is waiting. 11-11:50 am Pacific
