DESCRIPTION:Are you a school teacher who would like to lead nature journal activities in your classroom? Perhaps you are a home school parent who would like to extend and enrich your current journaling activities. Are you interested in starting (or are already leading) a nature journal club in your area? Or\, you could be a nature journaler with no interest in teaching but would like to understand the psychological research behind what you do to better understand and inspire yourself. \nIn this workshop we explore the pedagogy and logistics of leading nature journaling activities and bringing students outdoors. You will learn: \n\nhow to lead journaling activities\nmy biggest mistakes and what doesn’t work\nhow to integrate nature journaling with the Common Core standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.\ntechniques to give authentic feedback on student work that inspire and motivate\na review of relevant education and cognitive psychology reasearch\n\n  \nBefore the workshop\, you may want to download and read the free nature journaling curriculum  Opening the World Through Nature Journaling. Work is currently underway to create a new edition of this curriculum. DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we  will explore landscape drawing on the run- how to draw and paint a landscape in five minutes or less\, while standing up\, in wet weather. Learn how to see basic shapes\, simplify values\, and discard unecessary detail. I will demonstrate several techniques including water soluable pen\, aquash pencil\, limited palette watercolor\, Tombo pen\, and  graphite pencil. \nSuggested Equipment List\nYou will be fine with just a sketchbook and pencil but consider bringing the following tools so you can draw along with the demonstrations. \n\nTombo Dual Brush Pen N75-Cool Gray 3 – SKU# 56639\nTombo Dual Brush Pen N95-Cool Gray 1 – SKU# 56644\nPilot Razor Point Pen\, Black\nDark Gray or Dark Brown Watercolor Pencil\nPortable watercolor set and waterbrush\nDark graphite pencil (2B or darker) and blending stomp.\n\nNo registration necessary\, all ages and abilit levels welcome. $20 suggested donation.
