SUMMARY:Coyote Point Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:[J]oin the Nature Journal Club at Coyote Point for great opportunities to sketch waterfowl and shorebirds. The mud flats opposite the Marina are heavily used by migratory shorebirds and the marsh at the southern end of the Coyote Point golf course is a good place to look for ducks. We will meet at Harbor View Park (free on street parking and restrooms available). Rendezvous at the picnic area at the east end of Monte Diablo Avenue. From there we will walk north to the Coyote Point marsh. After lunch we will walk to the mudflats next to the Coyote Point Marina. \nHigh tide is at 12:39. As the tide recedes\, it exposes fresh mud and shorebirds follow the receding water\, looking for invertebrates to eat. This is a great time to see different species feeding together and to sharpen your identification and sketching skills. \nBring something to share for the potluck lunch in a backpack and bring your own bowl and spoon.  If rain is a possibility\, check this website the morning of the field trip to get updates and schedule changes. No registration required\, All experience levels welcome. Wheelchair accessible. $20 suggested donation.
