The fair is a wonderful event. View hundreds of local mushroom specimens\, mingle with the mycological community\, and enjoy presentations by guest speakers at this free day-long special event. \nIn this workshop you will learn how to block in the proportions and structure of a mushroom and how to draw them from any angle. I will demonstrate how to suggest different textures and stages of growth. Bring a sketchbook and your favorite drawing tools.

We will meet in front of the Environmental Education Center (EEC) and explore the park\, sketching and writing about the plants and animals of the canyon and using techniques to describe the season and weather. \n\nBring: your journaling kit\, a potluck treat to share at lunch time\, a fork and bowl.\nOptional: compass\, binoculars\, hand lens or magnifying glass\, measuring tape.\n\nThis program is free with a $20 suggested donation. No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Bring a sketchbook and penci. \n\nBring Artwork for the Nature Journal Club Art Show!\nYou are invited to submit framed artwork with a wire on the back for hanging for the Nature Journal Club’s first art show. Please bring it with you when we meet in the morning. We will leave the artwork at the EEC before heading out into the field to sketch and explore.

SUMMARY:Artist's Reception- Field Sketches and Nature Journals
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a meet-the-artists reception and sketch fest at the opening of the Nature Journal Club’s first art show. Club members will exhibit examples of their field sketches and journals made with pens\, pencils and watercolors. Mingle with the ever-friendly Nature Journal Club crowd and try your hand at sketching! Sketch paper and light refreshments provided. Some artwork will be available for sale.  \nThe park has temporarily closed the pedestrian access through Indian Camp (that’s that torn apart parking lot on the way to the Visitor Center). So\, on Sunday when you come\, you will have to use Lone Oak Rd to reach the Visitor Center. As you come down Canon Dr. you make a right on Central Park Dr. and then a left on Lone Oak Rd. It looks like a big gravel parking lot; however\, it wraps around and up to the top of the farm. From there you walk a ¼ mile and down the farm pasture. The Ranger there has said if you know of someone who needs special accommodations let them know and they would see what they could do. There will be lots of signs detouring folks and they may have a Student Aide help directing folks around. \nThe Bay Area Nature Journal Club is a diverse community of artists and naturalists\, of all ages and levels\, who meet to connect to nature through art.
