Wildfire Journaling

Our nature journals are an important tool to help us understand the wildfires growing ever larger and more intense across the world these past few years. Learn how to develop a deeper understanding of fire’s place in the natural world in this discussion with Nature Journaler and fire ecologist Robin Carlson and John Muir Laws. We explore techniques for drawing fire in our journals while learning about controlled burns for habitat management and cultural renewal, and then we follow along as one natural area recovers from a major wildfire five years ago. On this journey, we discuss how habitats respond to fire in healthy fire regimes and how this might change as fires become more frequent.
