NATURE JOURNALING IN HARD TIMES:

ILLNESS, DEATH, & GRIEF

Join Starr Regan DiCiurcio, Rhonda Roebuck, and John Muir Laws for an exploration of nature journaling through serious illness, death, and grief.  We will explore ways to bring the support of nature journaling to these difficult times faced by us all at some point.  What are the benefits?  What is possible?  How can nature journaling support the many people involved: patients, family, friends, medical professionals, ministers, social workers, volunteers etc.?  How can we reach out through Hospice and other organizations?  What can we learn from one another as we extend our love of nature and nature journaling to those facing these life challenges?  Please join our host, John Muir Laws, for a presentation by Starr and Rhonda, followed by a conversation with all present.  Let us innovate and inspire one another.

Rhonda Roebuck grew up in the deep South where nature and the outdoors were a big part of her life.  She lived on a street with 12-14 children who spend their summers outside playing games.  Rhonda graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters in Fine Arts.  She unexpectedly came to teaching art in the second semester of a school year at a middle school. Teaching became her life love.  She has been creating sketchbooks and journals for over 30 years.  Recently she has been teaching Nature Journaling at her local library.

Starr Regan DiCiurcio is an interfaith minister and avid nature journaler who lives in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York.  She facilitates a small nature journaling group and offers occasional workshops, including introduction to nature journaling and poetry for your nature journals.  Starr’s latest book is Dwelling in Wonder:  Nature Journaling as a Spiritual Practice.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. No registration is necessary. If you are new to Zoom or are having trouble with the meeting controls, please see these notes and suggestions on Zoom Tips for Online Classes with John Muir Laws to help you get more out of the online workshop.
