San Francisco Botanical Garden Fieldtrip

September 29, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm PDT

Join the Nature Journal Club for a day of sketching plants in all their diversity.

The San Francisco Botanical Garden is one of the world’s premier gardens. Here you can see thriving collections of plants from all around the world. Our day’s activities will include a docent lead tour highlighting plant forms that are fun to draw, a potluck lunch (bring something to share- you can leave the picnic basket in a secure room while you are out sketching). plant drawing demonstrations, and opportunities to sketch, wonder, and see tricks that other journalers use to record botanical observations in their notebooks.

Bring

  •  seasonally appropriate clothing
  • your sketching and journaling supplies
  • potluck treats (and your own bowl and spoon)

Meet just inside the main garden gate. If rain is forecasted for the day of the field trip, the trip may be canceled or relocated to an indoor venue. Check the program description on Sunday morning before leaving for updates and changes.

Admission to the garden is free for San Francisco residents (bring proof of residency). If you live outside of the city, admission is $9 (adults) $6 for (youth ages 12-17, seniors age 65 and over, and college students with I.D.) $2 (children ages 5-11).

The program is open to all ages and ability levels. No registration is necessary. $20 suggested donation.
