Come join artist/naturalist/educators Clare Walker Leslie
and John Muir Laws
in a two-day journaling retreat. This is a unique opportunity to learn basic skills for setting up your own Nature Journal that you can continue using throughout the seasons in your own place. No skill in drawing, writing, observing necessary. Just bring curiosity and a love for being outdoors. We will both be doing simple demonstrations, showing our own journals, encouraging you in specific ways you can overcome your fears of the blank white paper! The world of nature is constantly changing, with much to absorb and learn about. The Nature Journal provides a fantastic opportunity to record your own observations, insights, wonderments.
The Field Journal is a historically important tool that scientists and naturalists used throughout the world, before the advent of the camera. Discover why your own record-making is even more fun than taking a photograph! (Photographs, articles and clippings, e-mails and text messages of course can be added to Journals and we will show you how.)
Journal Share Table
Claire and John will bring a selection of their field journals that participants my browse and read. Bring your own journals for the journal share table to inspire others with what you do.
Art Supply Swap-out
Do you have a selection of cool art/journaling materials that you no longer use? This is your chance to clear the closet. Bring those materials to the Swap-out Table and take anything you see on the table that you like to add to your own kit.
Both Clare and John will have copies of their nature journaling books available for purchase and signing. Finish all of your holiday shopping in October! Fill out this short survey to let Clare know which books she should bring for you. Preorder with Clare Walker Leslie.
