Nature Journaling Attention, Curiosity, and Creativity (Salt Lake City)
August 29, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm$59
One day workshop. Choose from Tuesday, August 28, or Wednesday, August 29.
We live in a world of beauty and wonder. Train your mind to see deeply and with intentional curiosity, and the world will open before you. Keeping a journal of your observations, questions, and reflections will enrich your experiences and develop gratitude, reverence, and the skills of a naturalist. The goal of nature journaling is not to create a portfolio of pretty pictures but to develop a tool to help you see, wonder, and remember your experiences. You can learn to do this. You do not need to be an artist or a naturalist. These are skills you will develop as you go. The time to begin is now.
Learn how to open the world through nature journaling with your family, students, or your own practice. Author and educator John Muir Laws will lead a full day interactive seminar that will inspire you and give you the skills to open your own journal and lead journaling activities with children. In this workshop you will:
Build curiosity and creativity while deepening your connection with nature and developing art skills.
Learn why ‘talent and gift’ are destructive myths that stifle your growth.
Discover ways to sharpen your observation and memory.
Practice skills that expand your journaling capacity and enjoyment.
Discover drawing tricks that help you get the essentials down on paper.
Participate in activities you can lead with children to build journaling skills step by step.
Have fun outdoors integrating science, art, nature study, and gratitude.
Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. in the Orangerie.
