Nature Journaling Field Trip: Sibley Volcanic Preserve
July 31, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
[W]alk in the remains of an extinct volcano in the Oakland Hills. Enjoy a day of natural history, a good hike, nature journaling, and the best potluck lunch anywhere. In addition to exploring and sketching, John Muir Laws will demonstrate techniques to discover mysteries in nature and to model explanations in your journal. This process will take your study of natural history to new levels.
We will have our potluck lunch on the trail so pack a portable feast and bring your own bowl and spoon. No advanced registration required. This program is family friendly and all skill levels are welcome. Bring your own water, hat, sunscreen, journaling supplies, and appropriate clothing. If you arrive late, look for us near the quarry at lunchtime. $20 suggested donation.
From Highway 24 take the Fish Ranch Road immediately east of the Caldecott Tunnel. Continue 0.8 miles to Grizzly Peak Boulevard. Turn left and go 2.4 miles on Grizzly Peak to Skyline Boulevard. Turn left and drive .1 mile to the preserve entrance on the left.
