Osprey Days Nature Journaling Field Trip
June 26, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Come celebrate the Bay Area’s surging osprey population with your sketchbook in hand. We will visit Mare Island during the Osprey Days event as guests of the Visions of the Wild festival. Meet in front of the Shoreline Heritage Preserve Visitor’s Center. (If your GPS does not recognize the Railroad Ave. Address, try 167 O’Hara Court). From there we will walk to the A168 Mercado Court for a 10:15 workshop on drawing osprey, perched and in flight, and close up details of the osprey’s face. We will then spend our day taking walking and driving tours throughout Mare Island watching, studying and sketching osprey and their nests. If you can not find us, call my cell phone (415) 310-7592.
Bring your journaling materials, binoculars, bowl, spoon, and a potluck lunch treat to share, seasonally appropriate clothing, and a portable stool or chair (optional). If you have a spotting scope, please bring it.
This program is free, family friendly, and no registration is required. Open to all levels of experience. $20 suggested donation.
