Snow Leopards: Conservation & Art

March 4, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PST

John Muir Laws will lead this enjoyable and educational drawing class, co-hosted by Marcia Sivek of BeProvided Conservation Radio and the Snow Leopard Conservancy team. While receiving instruction on how to draw this magnificent cat, learn about snow leopards and the conservation efforts of the Snow Leopard Conservancy. This activity is for everyone – you don’t have to be an artist to participate. Have pencils and drawing paper handy and sign in to have a wonderful time!

Dr. Rodney Jackson is the Founder & Director of the Snow Leopard Conservancy, a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring snow leopard survival working in partnership with mountain communities in Central Asia through innovative human-wildlife coexistence and environmental awareness programs. Dr. Jackson has been pioneering the field of snow leopard conservation since receiving the Rolex Award for Enterprise in 1981, leading the first radio-tracking study of snow leopards over four years in Nepal, which led to the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1986. Other guest speakers will include Conservancy team members Ashleigh Lutz-Nelson, Vice President, who will be helping to lead the organization into its next chapter with 20 years’ experience working with wild cats and conservation, and Shavaun Kidd, Outreach Manager and author/editor of the book Searching for the Snow Leopard, who has been a conservation educator since 2002.
