Las Gallinas Fieldtrip

March 31, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm PDT

Let’s play in my favorite sewage pond!

Join the Nature Journal Club at the Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds in Marin County for a day of journaling, exploration, and nature study. You do not have to be signed up for the Nature Journal Retreat to participate in this event. These ponds, next to the waste water treatment facility are an amazing spot to watch migratory waterfowl and shorebirds.

Bring your sketching supplies, binoculars, spotting scopes, a portable chair (lawn chairs work great), clothing appropriate for the weather, a bowl and spoon and a potluck treat to share for lunch.

Appropriate for all ability levels. $20 suggested donation. No advanced registration required. If rain is possible, check this site the morning of the field trip to see if the group has moved to an alternate (dry) location.

Directions: From US 101 in Marin County, exit Lucas Valley Road/Smith Ranch Road. Drive east about 0.7 mile on Smith Ranch Road, then at the McInnis Park entrance, turn left to remain on Smith Ranch Road. Drive on Smith Ranch Road about 0.8 mile, to the signed trailhead at the end of the road. There is a small parking area at the end of the road. Once it is full, park along the road but off to the side so that you do not obstruct traffic.
