Lake Del Valle Nature Journal Fieldtrip
July 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm PDT
Join the Nature Journal Club for a day of nature exploration, art, and journaling.
A walk along Lake Del Valle, sketching, and exploring nature with friends. We will look for birds and practice quick field sketches. Bring a daypack with binoculars*, a spotting scope if you have one, your favorite journaling supplies, a bird book (Sibley’s is the best), water, sunscreen, hat, a bowl and spoon, and a potluck treat to share at lunch. The program is wheelchair accessible and is open to all ages and ability levels. No registration necessary. $20 suggested donation.
*If you do not have binoculars, I will bring pentax papillio 8.5’s for purchase. You may bring cash or preorder online here. If you preorder, use the coupon code “donotship” to avoid shipping costs.
Note: the arrow on the map (and the address) does not show the meeting location, it just gets you in the general area…
From Interstate 580 in Alameda County, exit Central Livermore/North Livermore Avenue (exit 52b). Drive south on North Livermore, which turns into South Livermore, passes through downtown, makes a sharp left curve, and turns into Tesla Road (about 3.5 miles from 580). Just past the curve, look for the brown “parks” sign and turn right onto Mines Road. Drive about 3.5 miles, at which point Mines Road veers left. Follow the brown parks signs, and stay straight on Del Valle Road about another 3.5 miles to the park entrance kiosk, on the right side of the road. Park in the lot near the East Swim Beach and walk north (to the right) to the East Shore Trail Trailhead near the snack bar and marina. Meet at the East Shore Trail trailhead.
